Uncertainty is growing in the Hopstate following Bunny of Harrow's return from the void. She returned from the void today. Her husband, Konijntje, returned a few days earlier on December 31st, 2025. Both Harrows are seen as monarchist figures and put the future presidency in danger according to critics. Though the presidency is popular, the Harrow's popularity is ever increasing since their return. Some officials question whether the Hopstate will remain as a presidential republic. Recently in a war for independence, the Hopstate claimed victory against the Tigerium and appointed a nonpartisan president, Lord Bunning. The president has not made a statement yet. Critics of the Harrows say that if the Hopstate adopts a monarchist system, it will return as a puppet-state of the Tigerium.
The Tigerium and several other countries have openly shown their support for a constitutional or even an absolute monarchy. The Tigerium's interference in international affairs regarding the Hopstate in particular has been met with widespread criticism. On the contrary, the Beardom has shown its support for the presidential republic. "Democracies must remain, so we are staunchly opposed to a dictatorial monarchy", said the current prime minister of the Beardom, Beertje Bacon. The Harrows are currently conversing with the Tigerium-royals in a state visit. Konijntje has stated he hopes to resolve the issue.
