At 23:00 today Tiberius held a press conference announcing that the Tigerium will invade the Royal Primate and establish a new government as Tijgeron had not withdrawn from the country:
The Tigerium is a peaceful nation, and we have been since the panther wars. We have made mistakes in the past, but this is no mistake. Everyone saw it coming, Tijgeron has not withdrawn from the Royal Primate, which prompts us to remove his unjust government. Just fifteen minutes ago I have ordered my forces to move from the Lionarchy into the Royal Primate and occupy the country, remove Tijgeron's Hordes and establish a true and safe government under Django. I have also ordered them to bomb the cities and regions controlled by Tijgeron. The operation will be swift and we hope near bloodless. Thank you for coming and bless you all on this evening. -Tiberius
Two days ago the Tigerium issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Tijgeron to withdraw his forces. Tijgeron had not made any statements during the 48 hours. He allegedly mainly prepared his forces for the incoming war. Following Tiberius's press conference, Tigerium forces have bombed and launched paratroopers into several cities. The Fangtooths are still organizing and moving into the country but slowly start to make progress. Several towns and cities have also been shelled by artillery fire. With up to 50 casualties having already fallen, experts estimated "this number might rise into the thousands if Tijgeron fights back hard", which they state is likely.
Several other countries have joined the fight against Tijgeron. Beertje Bacon has requested a seat at the negotiation table if Tijgeron's government collapses. In return he will send full Beardom forces to occupy territory whilst the Tigerium forces fight Tijgeron's forces directly. Several other close allies such as the Hopstate, Juniorwood, Pigtopia and the Lionarchy have also publicly spoken out for support of the Tigerium. The Fangtooth forces directly led by Tiberius currently reside in the Lionarchy, keeping the Royalist government in charge of most of the country. However, now the forces are directly moving towards their neighbouring country, the Royal Primate.
Tijgeron has not made any public statements yet, though one of his close associates, Aapje, calls this an unjust invasion. Several clashes have already occurred, though the capital and several large cities remain largely unscathed despite the bombings.
